The love and care and commitment that you put in to your work/art is a personal thing, and you certainly should take that personally.
But what are you getting out of feelings of rejection, deflation, discouragement, and intimidation by the funny looks, the shaking of heads, and the sideways glances?
Make it personal, but don’t take it personally. And when you take this position personally, your best work comes out.
