We assume that when they don’t say “you screwed up,” “this is awful,” “we lost it because of you,” or any other such comment, we’re doing well. No news is good news.
But when it comes to creating a career of magic, of spectacularly delighting others, no news is not good news. If you’re not getting a “wow!” or a “this made my day!” or a ” I can’t believe it!”, you’re struggling.
Aluminum foil rarely produces a “wow.” But the work that we do typically does not correspond to aluminum foil. Go for the delight, the rare, the wonderful.
