Access allows entry. It’s unidirectional, at times guided, and often allows us what we want.
But to gain access we need to know the rule: pay cover, have a permit, wear a hardhat, scan your card.
People are no different. They have different rules of access. Once you’re in, you are trusted, believed, honored, and listened to.
Do you understand their rules of access? Do you care? You should. Because without access, you can’t make change. And if you keep hitting a barrier, well, that’s on you.
You need others to enrich your career, without a doubt. And to gain access to them, follow their rules, not your own.
